You may see Katy running the streets of Bradford regularly, as this is her way of maintaining her mental health… many an argument fought and problem solved pounding the pavements.

She came to VITAL 13 years ago with a passion for working with older people, ensuring they were heard when they had begun to lose their voice in the care system. She has a strong sense of justice, and need to speak out about people’s experiences and that’s what keeps her coming to work.

Her vision for the future is that people are no longer worried or embarrassed to discuss their mental health, and that it’s a normal part of everyday conversation whoever you are.

Finally, if you meet her out and about and she seems shy, give her a smile and a hello, as for all of her apparent confidence, anxiety often prevents her from starting up a conversation but once she starts talking, she may not stop.
