Bradford and Airedale Mental Health Advocacy Group (BAMHAG) relaunched as VITAL in 2018 (registered as VITAL Projects). At our internal VITAL launch, we all made a pledge in #steppingup4mh symbolised by climbing the VIA Ferrata at Howstean Gorge to recognise that ‘people are humans not just a diagnosis’.

As part of their internal relaunch, 4 members of VITAL climbed the Via Ferrata at How Stean Gorge. The team traversed the Gorge in front of the rest of the Charity to pledge their commitment to step up for mental health in the district, encouraging others to look at ways to fundraise for the charity enabling VITAL to continue to speak up for vulnerable people whilst dismantling the taboos of mental health. Find out more about the day by reading the news article here.

The campaign began when we were talking about how the person can got lost in their mental health.

A war hero who is now only identified through his dementia.

A manager, who runs marathons is now only identified for their bipolar

As experts by experience we understand that there are real people behind every mental health story and we demonstrated this through wonderful individual impact stories

Our pledge pins represent our pledge with the ampha sound used to represent the amplification of our message. The pins are being sold to raise VITAL funds to support those with mental ill health across Bradford, Districts and beyond.
